Gravid BBC and BCI feeding patterns

Boaloco May 03, 2009 01:33 AM

One for all the big boa breeders on here!
Do you tend to offer your gravid female boas food when you suspect (or Know!) they are gravid?
What percentage of them will feed?
Whats "Normal"??

Thanks in advance for your time!

sorry should be BCC, not BBC!

I do not consider myself a "big boa breeder" but I have had experience with both BCI & BCC.

Yes I offer food to my gravid boas and most the time they will take it. The important thing is the food item needs be about half of a regular meal, if normal is XL rat then gravid meal should be a medium rat.

I do not offer meals in the last 75 days of pregnancy.

In my experience most females will eat while gravid. I offer food every 10 days. I don't offer food the last 30-40 days of gestation. If the female eats at least a few meals before the babies are born, obviously she is ahead of the game when recovering afterward.
