Okay guys i got a 08 female amel tiger that dose not like to eat she eats F/T iv got her to eat a few times but she shys way most of the time. The last time a fed her she didn't take it so a left it in the cage as i fed my other animals and i came back to take the rat out about a hour later and she eat it as it just laid there is that a bad thing? should a snake always bite and construct there pray or is that okay. I've had retics for about 3 years know and have never had one that would shy away so much. if anyone has any feeding tips?? I've tried warming it up in water and on a heat mat, i,v tried a fresh killed. but still don't want it i don't want to try live if she shys away from a frozen i don't think she would take a live thanks Scott

a couple thing: what are her cage set ups? is she losing weight, look unhealthy or sick? if the above are all good, you may wanna offer a live prey item just to see and make sure she is still interested in food

I know many say dont give them hides if they dont need them, but my male albino tiger will not strike food unless he is in his hide. He does exactly as you mentioned and shys away from it and if i leave it sometimes he eates it. But if hes in his hide its a completely different story "wham". I believe she may just be scared of you looming over her, as when they are feeding it puts them in a vulnerable state.

she is very healthy she came from Baldogo she is in a large rack with 3 others "not in the same tubs" temp on the high end is 87 to 90 I'm going o try a live small rat tomorrow and as for as a hide box i mite try that to, she is the only retic i got that doesn't go under the paper to hide.

I tried a live today she didnt want it. But i gave her a hide box left her alone for a few hours and tried a F/T L rat and she flew out of the hide box and took the rat she was a totally different snake with that box thanx for the tip

very cool, congrats. some snakes need a hide spot or more, and some dont. none of mine have one. the only snakes i have that have and use a hide is my false water cobra (but she stays buried beneath her substrate about 95% of the time) and my desert nightsnake, is in her hide all day, then cruises around at night (go figure)
