My First BP Eggs!

Marcial May 04, 2009 10:19 AM

This morning, I got my first BP eggs... right on schedule! I got 5 great looking eggs from a het clown x normal. Having only seen GTP and carpet eggs in the past, I am amazed at how big these are...

Unfortunately, my girl decided not to use her nest box and layed the eggs on the newspaper. When I pulled them out, some newspaper stuck to the bottom of the eggs. Is this a problem? I worry about the paper absorbing moisture and being in contact with the eggs... any advice on what I should do, or is it ok?

Just pick what you can off, the rest will be fine!

Also, I forgot to mention this:

I only have one incubator, and it is set up to incubate green tree python eggs which incubate at a lower temp that most of you use for BPs (86.5-87.5). I am assuming that incubating BP eggs at this lower temp will be ok, but the eggs will probably take longer to hatch. Any thoughts on this?

What is the "typical" BP incubation temp and duration, and how long might it take at these lower temps?

they hatvh at about 56 to 60 days at 89.you can expect ot have them hatch at the lower temps around 65 to 70 days.Good Luck Terry
