Just what is a lavender corn?I know how they look but,how did they come about?Were the originals wild caught? Thanks in advance! Jeff

Jeff if i remember right they came from a wild caught gravid female. I also think they were called "mocha" origonally.

my memory, I believe that Rich Zuchowski (Serpenco) bought one of the original parents from SW Florida (around Sarasota?). They called it mocha because of the brown colors on some of them. But then Tim Rainwater started calling them lavenders, and they proved to be the same gene. The name lavender sells better than mocha, and that name stuck. turned out to be called the mocha....Connie liked tha name...
babies...more babies...name changes....mocha /lavender in LV and cocoa here in Pa......from John Albrecht....brown kids from Aztec line, that wasn't called aztec yet, took a few more years and more people.....FL too....John had some cool aztecs.....and amel aztecs then.....(Kathy had Zig Zags...)....same years,..
.....so lavs were all over...Pa wouldn't buy one for $50 ....later after the name lav came out...$400 and they couldn't keep up...too bad I didn't make them that years due to noone wanting them the first year they were offered....opals popped out...pinks and all whites.....Rich named them...good name for the pink ones...whites came only once....and since then I made yellow ones but cannot remember if there is ultramel in them or not???..........so......
all this came from one egg!!!!!!!...just think if they all would have lived....????....
