please help me identify these lizards

yankeeslover May 06, 2009 11:32 AM

Im actually posting these to a few different boards.. Im more of a snake person myself, but these 4 lizards are being left behind by there owners(long story) and I was offered them..they have not ate or drank in over one week, they were all just left behind..No one knows what kind they are, Im gonna take them in and care for them as much as I can, but need some help first, I am picking them up tonight..if these pictures are not good, i will take them myself later and post my pics( I have not seen the lizards up front yet, these pics were sent to me)
I believe the spotted one is a Leopard Gecko....Im not sure what the others are, the Leopard is in a tank by himself, and the other three share a tank...I thank you all....

be easier if you had clear pictures...most are very blurry. There is definitely a leopard gecko (the third picture) and the rest I can't make out. You should also try posting to the gecko forum, if you haven't already.

The first two are anoles, the third pic is a leopard gecko, and the last three photos are golden geckos (although I'm not 100% sure about the darkest one).

they have the anoles and the golden geckos together...is this ok?

It might be okay, but I wouldn't recommend it. I thought that first dark picture looked more like a gargoyle gecko or leaf-tailed, I think.. I'll check my book when I get home. That was just judging from the blurry shot of its head.

I meant the top picture. The second picture definitely looks like an anole. Or a very very skinny gecko. O.o

The top two pics looks like anoles to me (and my dd), judging by the head and the clawed toe. It's blurry, but my guess is Anolis carolinensis, the green anole.

As for keeping them together, I'm not a fan of keeping species together. Anoles prefer a semi-tropical habitat and have specific lighting requirements, especially UV. I've never kept leopard geckos, but was under the impression that they have different lighting/humidity requirements, being nocturnal and more arid.
