Just moved my Lucy into a rack and not much light gets in during the day. Should I add lighting to the rack, or is it unneccesary?
Thank you.

Natural light coming through a window is perfectly fine. Additional lighting isn't necessary.

I have a basement reptile room that gets zero natural light.
I have a shaded 13w energy saver bulb (60w output)on a timer with a photo sensitive night light providing a gentle day/night light cycle. There is additional lighting for when I am in the room and at two brightness levels.
While UVB light is criticle for the health of some other reptiles like bearded dragons, its said that snakes don't need more than simple artificial lighting. I have however noted a benifit gained from UVB lighting provided to help in the recovery of ill snakes or snakes that are off on thier appetite.
UVB light will work wonders to pull a snake out of a winter funk and get it to feed.
I don't privide it everyday and I move the lamp around the room. But I do believe it has its benifits.
My 2 cents.
Mike.
