Obesity and Super Cinnies (unrelated Qs)

HogBilly May 06, 2009 12:37 PM

First, obesity in balls. I hear it's a problem, but on the other hand I wanna grow my new late'08 girl.
In short I got her to accept her first rat the other day. It wasn't really any thicker than her mice meals, but 2-3 times longer. Since she already looks fat compared to my other snakes (I'm used to the king/rat bodytype), I wanna be able to tell if she's getting too much. Anyone have photos of completely fat pork balls, and ideals?

Secondly, a quick Q on super cinnies. Does anyone currently breed them, and how much do they generally go for? I never see them available (here, anyway). Did duckbilling kill the morph's popularity?

Well there should be some Super Cinnies this season.. Actually I am waiting on my female Cinny to lay soon.. And the prices right now are around 2000-2500.

Actually that's not as bad of a price range as I thought. Thanks.

Thanks, she's from NERD. I don't think she's fat at all at the moment, but I just want reference for the future.

It would be very hard to make your young growing Ball Python obese! If you are feeding once a week your young BP will be just fine. If you Power/force feed, then you may run the risk of making it obese.

Nice little spider ball you have!

i wonder about that too....ive been worried not too get them too fat..and then i see people talking about underfeeding......so i wonder about that now too....*sigh* but i guess i could step it up since we arent in winter anymore....
id like to see pics of an obese python too..just for record.....

and yes, thats a pretty lil baby ya got there

I would assume for underweight, go to petco. The ones there can't be much younger than mine but there's a HUGE and sad difference.

As soon as you think you spider may be getting chucky It will prbably stop feeding for 3 or 4 months so feed it while its in the mood to eat...

jason May 07, 2009 02:23 AM

Man, ain't that the truth.

My female mojave just decided to stop eating. Been feeding weekly without fail since I got her last August, now a month without food now that she's hit the 700 gram mark.

oh my! i fed my lot on sunday. and its been warm, but not yet warm enough to turn the air conditioner on. so its been warm in the house, of course. half of them have had a 'movement' and are looking at me like im food. HAHAHAH...i guess ill feed them tonight or tomorrow again. i cant have them lookin at me like that...and certainly not the cats and dog either!!!!!
