Carteret Cty & Myrtle Beach double hets

Scott_felzer May 06, 2009 08:19 PM

This Carteret Cty male (top pic) is the reddest double het erythristic x Schuett albino I own and he was bred to the Myrtle Beach double het erythristic x Schuett albino. As washed out as the female's pic is, it does pretty accurately portray her true coloration. She produced a decent sized litter of erythristics, albinos and melanistics. All are 66% possible hets for the other traits.

Those really are some beautiful garters! They remind me so much of the coastal populations of red morph Terrestris that we have out here in Cali. I wonder if being in close proximity to the ocean has anything to do with the bright red coloration of the sirtalis out there on the East coast, and the Elegans out here on the West coast?
