san lois potosi question?

adamjeffery May 07, 2009 07:46 PM

i was thinking about getting some mex mex and was wondering if the hatchlings are picky eaters or do they readily take f/t mice out of the egg?
also how are they temperment wise compared to other kings?
thanks in advance

These snakes have great personalities in general. They can get quite stocky but are not huge kingsnakes.

I have found them quite easy to work with. They seem more forgiving of conditions than many montane kingsnakes. I've heard of other hobbyists say the same thing.

There can be some variation in color too if you look around at enough of them. Some have a lighter red and some darker. Some have a lighter gray background and some darker. Some have very busy patterns and some less so.

You will like them. They are calm snakes that are easy to care for. I have had some babies that were a bit difficult but really no more so than other kings overall.

Valle de los fantismo(sp) Not San Luis potosi. San Luis Potosi is in a low valley totally out of habitat, to the west of where they were found. Cheers

I have a pair of granite phase that are awesome and have always been great feeders. they seem to be full grown at this point and are fairly small but like the first post said, pretty stocky.

Mark, that one is awesome. Are you breeding it?

To clear up any confusion...

The snakes in question do occur in the Valle de los Fantasmas, which is located in the state of San Luis Potosi(MEX).

Adios!
