OT but really cool....

Thought I'd share my first encounter with a zonata (mountain king of any sort actually). I was hiking down to the Yuba River (middle fork) to collect some water samples (Ed's probably thinking "Damn government scientists, always screwing around finding snakes on my tax dollars" lol) and I knew the conditions were perfect for herps; recent rain, early May, frogs everywhere. But I was not expecting this little beauty:

As you can see it very recently had eaten (I suspect a frog, they were plentiful).
Now I know this subspecies, multicincta (I guess no longer valid?), is maybe not considered that attractive but to me it was just beautiful:
.
Thanks for looking,
Paul

Paul,

I'll PM you my address so you can send me a tax refund. I have nothing against government scientists. I have plenty against *dishonest* government scientists, especially those that are trying to take away our pets.

Great find! That's a neat snake. It's warming up here, I may have to take a few hours to go herping.

Thanks for sharing,
Ed

Ed,
After writing my long reply to your post below I saw your response to my OT. Another thing about you; you are funny. OK, I forgive you. I'll even keep reading your fiery dialogues!
Thanks,
Paul

... and posting pics of snakes, but like I said in my very firey
response to your post below, this is a huge issue. Our country will surely go down the toilet faster than you know what if we let these agenda pushers get away with agenda-based science that's becoming more and more blatant.

Anyway, thanks for the compliment. I still have that picture my son photoshopped of you with the Burmese python in the background.

Thanks,
Ed

Paul,

My "I couldn't care less..." comment below was uncalled for, regardless of how clear the evidence is to me. I apologize for
that sentence.

Thanks,
Ed

Sorry again, Paul. The "self serving" comment set me off, lost my cool. I've spent quite a bit of time over the last few weeks fighting this legislation that would personally effect others (ie, those who have non-native species) much more than me. So I may be stupid, but I'm not self-serving...

Anyway, here's a picture of Ruby. She likes fish also. Took her a few minutes to figure it out...

Thanks,
Ed

Yeah, that self-serving thing. I kind of knew how it would come across so its why I threw in there that in this case it was to support your argument. I was trying not to imply that you were pursuing a personal agenda.
And thanks for posting pics of the new girl. Truth be told, I've thought about selling my Woma in order to get one (I just don't have the space, at least that is what my wife tells me). But it would be hard to part with Wally, he's a cool snake that I've raised from a baby. Dilemma.
Paul
