Do Cosala Sinaloans Stay Bright?

Dan_W May 08, 2009 04:04 AM

I really like the bright red of the Cosala Sinaloans, along with their gentle dispositions and nice size. I was wondering if they have a tendency to develop black tipping like so many triangulum, or do they tend to stay bright when they become mature adults... Would a hypo Cosala Sinaloan tend to stay more bright than a normal Cosala?

Also, has anyone bred normal Cosala with albino Nelsoni to produce albino Cosale X Nelsoni crosses?

Thanks for your answers, guys!

Dan

Like most sinaloans Cosalas stay pretty bright into old age. I dont know of a hypo sinaloan or nelsons to be bred into a Cosala but it would be pretty cool if there was.

I also dont think anyone as added some albino to the line, people tend to want to keep the Cosalas pure.

These three Cosalas are about 12 years old and still looking nice

All three look remarkably clean and bright for 12 year olds when compared to a lot of other milksnakes! Are they all pushing about 4 feet?

Thanks for your answer!

P.S. Your link Natural Selection does not work...

Yeah, they are all just under 4ft. and pretty slim. Some of the Cosalas get big too.

Ugh, about the link. I forgot to change the email address for the sever to send me an email and remind me the domain name needed to be re-registered. So, I have to put the site up again. Should be ready in about a month or so. I am taking the opportunity to update it.

Dan,

I have a colony of Cosala locale animals and Yes, they stay incredibly bright into adulthood. The bloodline I work with pushes close to 48" as well. My adult female was 600grams after a few meals out of brumation.

here is the big female...she is 4 years old in these pics. All of these pics are taken without flash in natural light with indirect sunlight.

Here is an adult male at 4 years as well

Here is an 08 hold back that is just crazy bright orange and I have no reason to believe he won't stay that way...
