Two More Lockups Observed

guyergenetics May 08, 2009 06:47 AM

Two more lockups observed!

Pair of Outcrossed Bloodreds. 1/4 of the young should be Bloodreds.

Pair of Naturals. Female is a quad het for Amel, Anery, Hypo, and Motley. I put these snakes together just to see if the male has anything hidden in his genotype.

This looks like its going to be a weird season. I have some snakes in their prelay shed and others that are just now locking up. Looks like we're going to have a long and drawn out laying season and hatching season. Nothing like last year when everything hit at once.

Yep, sounds like you're going to have a long season.
I bet you get some amels and possibly even anerys in that normal pairing. Seems like almost everything is het for one or the other, or both
Good luck

That's a strong possibility. I just wanted to see if he had anything and breeding him to that quad het seemd to be the best way to find out. I'm expecting surprises with this one.

A bit of an update...My Desert King and my female Okeetee are both in their prelay sheds so I'll have eggs soon. Everything else is not as far along or just now starting. It'll be nice not to be hit with everything all at once like has always happened before. Maybe this way the magic will just last a bit longer.

I've paired up 14 pair this season of various species, but mostly corns. We'll see how it turns out.

I ended up with 14 pairs as well.
All of mine seem to be about a week behind schedule on laying.
At least compared to the last couple of seasons. But with six clutches so far all is well.
Had a bairdi lay 8 fat eggs yesterday. They dwarf corn eggs.
How big are the king eggs?

I'll be able to tell you how big the Desert Kings are in a week or so hopefully. I've bred Pueblan Milks before and there eggs are about the same diameter as a Corn's but about three times longer. I'm expecting the Splendida eggs to be about the same size as the Pueblans.

Congrats on all of the clutches Jimmy. I'll have to check out those bairdi sometime.
