Folks on here like to hear themselves talk-and they won't stop until the authorities show up to confiscate their animals
Then they'll be back on here to complain more about it (at least until this website is shut down as well)!
What you're telling us SHOULD be done is hard. Complaining on a forum is easy.

No easy way out
Share the fun! participate!
I do, participate.
That is the least I can do, and the most unfortunately. I canīt afford a plane ticket to the US even though I know a very sweet girl in NY area who I would like to meet.
I am starting to loose fear in confrontation of AR memes on forum. I have little left to loose.
Last summer I felt compelled to sponsor a vacation for Taggen, a cayman living at the Bergen Aquarium. Those folks may be good with fish, but some of their taste in vivariums smells to me like [bleep].
So I picked up the animal on a busy saturday, but alas, I forgot to tell the staff.
Sunday is the busiest day of the week for Bergen Aquarium, there is a sea of visitors at the zoo, but nobody discovered that Taggen was missing even though he is 1 metre long and is kept alone in his cage.
Monday is a slow day of the week at the zoo, but still the zoo is open to public.
Tuesday morning someone finally found out and by tuesday afternoon I arranged for Taggen to be returned to the Aquarium.
After this I was charged with theft but I claimed innocence and I havenīt heard from the police attourney since.
Before that, in 2004 I turned the other cheek, I was one of perhaps 10-20 breeders in Europe who had adult breeding pair(s) of this subspecies Mount Koghis locale. This is a distinct member of the giant gecko family with itīs own set of behaviors and characteristics. I also lost some 30 other herps, and I got a 4100$ fine from my government.
Now.. there is no way in hell that my geckoes could possibly pose any harm to the norwegian society, and they really cannot populate the semi-tundas of Norway, these are sub-tropical geckoes really.
The going rate for Mt. Koghis leachie babies at the time was somewhere around 7-900 Euros and if I had been allowed to keep my leachies, my adult pair only would have produced somewhere between 4-8 eggs per year, meaning roughly some 3200-6400$ in income wfom one adult pair alone, in the 5 years that have passed I have lost perhaps 13.000-26.000$ on this pair alone, taking in account some inflation of prices...
To you guys that may seem like peanuts but I assure you for me that is a whole pile of money since at present, Iīm broke as a bare back church rat.
Iīm not telling anyone what they should or shoudlnīt do, Iīm merely voicing my oppinion and trying to learn and participate in debate.
I see that you guys are going in the same direction as the norwegian herpetocultural society some 30 years back. I wasnīt around when reptile ban was passed in norway, that is why I try to participate here when you guys have a reptile ban on the way. I think this may help me to understand how on earth such injustice was passed in my country, that lead to autrorities taking my babies away from me. How would you like to get your babies stolen away from you?!
Grr.
You want me to shut up? ...and turn the other cheek? why donīt you do that, so I can take another big bite.
Kindest regards
oby

No. We want you and your friends to find a password protected venue where your enemies can't see what you are up to.
I am well connected and my connections tell me that this forum is NOT HELPING OUR CAUSE.
Believe it or not.....

I think the cat is out of the bag, the dog has run away, the snake has slithered out of the terrarium and the squid had climbed out of itīs aquarium, the bird has escaped the aviarium and the turtle has dug a hole under the fence.
I think the gist of refusing compromise is not to go back to the closet to continue the fight from the distance behind password encrypted safe-houses.
I have already explored the password protected sites, of norway at least. When I grow up, if I can find the time, I hope to infiltrate the password protected areas of the BBLC, cause I hear rumors that the battle mages and the beasts over there are brewing some new kind of magic that smells really hefty.
I havenīt heard of the Herp Conservation United before though, could you please fill me inn on your conservation initiative? You have 339 members in your conservation organization, but there is part in your forum which is dedicated to the topic of conservation. You only discuss Cages and supplies, reptile expos and field trip sponsors, do you engage in debate concerning conservation? Or.. does that happen on the password enctypted parts of your site?
Forgive me if I come out as agressive in my critisisms, I mean no harm by it, I only seek to understand your organisation better.
When I co-founded reptiweb in 2004 I was a freshly convicted fellow but still there was this dude, Duckman, built up the basic structure of our site and since then more than 500 criminal norwegian reptile keepers have joined. Actually a few months ago we had more than 1000 members but Team Reptilweb (TRW) has the habit of cutting loose the dead meat, meaning, we delete bots and robots who join our site.
This way we can be certain that our count of members relates more directly to the number of actual people who are members of our site.
At herp conservation UNlimited there are more than 300 members but how big part of your base of members are active real people and not bots and search engines?
Whether this forum is of help to our cause or not, I personally will let the administrator decide.
I havenīt recived any invitations to join neither background kingsnake nor backrgound BBLC, so Iīm just a stray dog really. If you think Iīm brking up the wrong tree, why are you asking me to shut up?
regards

Exactly-strategy, tactics, conservation, etc are only discussed under password protection-our organization would be foolish to do otherwise.

Joe,
How do we screen folks in this password protected forum? We need thousands of people on board in this fight for our rights and privileges. Should we run back ground checks on them? What happens if they are community activists that are not employed by AR groups, conservation groups, universities or regulatory agencies? What happens if they are sell out hobbyists? As you know I don't trust hobbyists that say one thing and do another.
Maybe your connections don't like what they are reading because it is different then what they are hearing from those who support the banning agenda or what they are hearing from sell out hobbyists? I believe in being honest and standing by principles and facts. Maybe your connections have been told STORIES that aren't exactly true?
You have connections to the AR banning agenda? You have an in with the authors of HR 669 and their supporters? I thought you just worked in Texas. We could start talking about this stuff on the USARK website but again how do you screen out the folks you don't want?
And what is wrong with stating realities and coming up with fair, reasonable, data backed principles to stand by? How can folks have an issue with that? What kind of problems are these folks having? Please explain in detail.
