Eve is just finishing up having her liter!!! What a good mom a day before mothers day. Looks like one slug and around 20 or so babies. For the first time I got to watch as I caught the action towards the end. Actually got to see several leave the vent. Very, very, cool. I'll post some pics and stats after they start to disperse.
Yep, snakes are great.

Eve had a huge litter; 26 full-term babies, 1 stillborn (eaten by Eve, see pic below) and one slug. Wow!!!! She had her babies 111 days after POS (Jan. 18). It was absolutely fascinating to watch part of the birthing. She laid her litter from the edge of the middle cave and most of the babies fell off into a big pile below (about an 7 inch drop). I loved how she nudged the babies and then move on when they twitched. Here are some pics:
One on the way out:

Mom is doing fine and will have a meal tonight. The babies are in their little tupperwares. I'll get some weights in a few days.
Thanks for sharing with me, awesome day!!!

Thanks Dave,
That snake was, I think, the last one out and I wonder if its sac broke open while in the womb due to the contractions and it drown.
It was pretty fascinating to watch.

Huge Congrats! Beautiful looking babies there and some great shots. What an exciting thing to witness.
Happy Mothers day!

Thanks Milo,
I'm afraid my infrastructure here was a little lacking and my wife got a call while shopping to pick up some more rubbermaids. I think some of these will come out really nice.

Paul those are great pictures. I love the second one of the baby rising out of the pile. The one of mom eating the stillborn is amazing. Congratulations on your clutch. Try not to let any of them get loose will you

Mike,
It pleases me that at least someone remembers my priceless stories!
Fortunately, this time I was there before the big dispersal (and yet I still was checking this morning!!). I was surprised how long they just laid there in their sacks before setting off, at least an hour for most. I guess it really should not have been such a surprise, little kids probably still in shock; out of the womb, 7 inch drop, big monster with a bright flashy thing going off.
Thanks for the congrats,
Paul

I haven't been around for a while due to finals and this has been great to come back to! Awesome shot of her eating the stillborn, kind of alarmed me at first haha. Congrats, great looking pile!

Thanks Aubrey,
When I was weighing them I realized this is my best looking BRB litter to date. And BIG! Average was 32 grams.

I got back last night from a few days in the field and was checking them over. All have settled in and starting their first shed cycle. Next week will be the first feast!
