Yes I know who, he posts here and I will let him tell if he wishes.I just hope he recovers well. These things seem to get to much bad press .Bites happen and can happen to any one who is involved with venomous snakes.I doubt it was anything but a small mistake and the snake siezed the moment.

As Archie said, it can happen to anyone. This one is a friend of mine and thankfully, will make a full recovery. It's an inherent risk we all take and must be willing to accept.

>>thanks

"It's an inherent risk we all take and must be willing to accept."

That's true, but it helps when we wear shoes! LOL!

But truthful. Anyone ever working with venomous with me it's MANDATORY to wear shoes. I always had strict policies regarding working with venomous and shoes were one of them. The most important was NEVER service the cage for ANY reason without removing and securing the snake first. David had the ONLY venomous bite ever sustained at my business while removing a water bowl with a Stilleto Snake still in it. That was our ONLY venomous bite in over 30 years albiet a bad one. He lost half of his right index finger as a result not to mention his unbearable pain. I really felt sorry for him. I talked to him last year and he said he has phantom pain even now well over 10 years later...

Tom was right about the protocol we had at the shop while working venomous snakes. Shoe's HAD to be worn. Here's a picture of one of Tom's shoes that I took when I worked there. I think he lost the other one from a narrow escape of a crocodile charging him. Anyway, he hasn't seen it since.

Those days before ballpythonmania man I miss them. When a snake was high dollar at 250 bucks not 35,000.

You are both right, shoes are a given.Complacentey in your own snake room can lead to death and has.Protocalls in place at all times is what keeps us alive.I have a viridis that has this plan to kill me and tries every time I Am in its cage.My wife begs me to get rid of it .I tell her it keeps me from becomeing complacent and to always follow protocalls.ps love the shoe lol.
