My baby has a new baby

rowad Sep 13, 2003 05:52 AM

My daughter got her first snake (my first one too) yesterday...a hatchling albino corn...he is adorable! I will take a photo of him with Amanda today.
She has named him Casper (she's 5). Yes I am overseeing her care (Casper is in our herproom) and she is a very responsible herper for her age.
We got the little guy from JOHN QUINONES in California. The transaction was a pleasure and he has went out of his way to answer any questions I had. He prepared and packed the snake GREAT. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a corn or hognose.
Like I said I will take some photos later today.

Casper's a good name, too. I really like the albino corns.
Have fun...........Duffy

Hi Duffy:

Thanks for all your help with the snake and info.
Let me know if you think anything has to be added or taken away:

10 gallon tank with clips and screen
pond large enough to soak (but very shallow)
daylight cycle bulb on one side
nighttime cycle on the other set to go on when day shuts off
Flat rock
Cave
Temperature ranges from 75-85 on the ground with higher temps upward
Branch with several levels (which has several levels of heat as well)

So far he just seems to be hiding alot.

Sounds like a great setup to me. How much higher than 85 do the temps get as you go up? If it's more than a few degrees, you might move the light just a bit farther away. If it's too hot, it will just be "wasted space" at best. Keep us posted on how the new arrival is feeding and coming along. Duffy
