...use a hook. LOL.

Anybody else noticed that the bleeding seems disproportionate to the wound/pain?
Regards,
J.

Yes, I think there is a certain anticoagulant quality to the saliva of Drymarchon (as well as a certain lacerating quality to the dentition).
Who tagged you? Certainly not the little Y/T...although I'm sure she would do that if you gave her enough time to work on it.
A rather largish male Y/T that we have taken to calling "Surprise". To both honor Jack Aubry in the Patrick O'brian series and to define this snakes reactions. One minute he's a lap snake next minute he's on you like stink on...never have figured out what trips his trigger.
Spousal unit leaves the room when it's time to move him.
Regards,
J.
Jeff,
I swear that snake NEVER bit me once the entire time I had him!
I can get you another snake or send you a couple of pints of blood??? What blood type are you!LOL
Take Care
Bobby
Awww, c'mon Bobby. I wouldn't trade him for the world. If you're gonna send anything new carpet would be nice.
Regards,
J.
Besides, he may be beginning to feel his oats...days are gettin shorter now doncha know.
I'm glad he's doing well for you and I wish you much success with breeding them.
That pair should lock up no problem.
ps Do you prefer shag, deep pile,???
Doesn't matter much, just something deep red or rust colored. Spousal unit is tired of the stains.
Regards,
J.
and then i got the rippin' of my life when i opened the box!.... ;-] btw, i can tell you what sets them off jeff.....anything! lap snakes they're not! you got balls my friend.....for right now anyway!!! LOL!
They represent the ends of the spectrum of individual differences.
B
Well, maybe if I had guns like the Wall's I'd be better off. Probably need to move up from the 12oz weights to 24's maybe?
Regards,
J.
Jeff,
Your not sporting pipe cleaners yourself! LOL
I did get bit today while helping my big male shed his facial skin. First bite in about a year. Lots of blood from the tiniest holes. And here I thought I got rid of all the mean ones! LOL
Bobby
Be happy to take him off your hands if you can't afford the blood letting. No money tho' I'm losing funds in my plasma sales as it is

J
Hey Bob, I think Dixon just saw that same pair of TX that I produced in Daytona ($1200)...
HE said they were "thin and weak"
He also said they called themselves "partner" of me.
Man that pisses me off.
No partners of mine.
Thin and weak.
He ain't gettin nothin from me any more.
Saw that pair Deano, OldHerper and Gila saw them too. They looked a little scraggly to me. I'll reserve OH's comments for him to make. Didn't hear any reference to you from the vendor, but frankly the pair was dismissed quickly for the price as well as the condition. Buyers standpoint only. Dunno what else you may have going on.
Regards,
J.
Yeah, those looked pretty bad. I was surprised at the condition, considering who's table they were on, I thought he had a pretty good reputation. I think he said they were '02's?....not much bigger if any bigger than my '03....maybe a little smaller even and certainly thinner and seemed a little lethargic. I was sorely tempted to buy them just to keep them from suffering any more neglect, but I couldn't deal with $1,200.00. I heard (after I left, of course) that there was another pair there also, but I didn't see them.
That sort of thing really gets to me. An Indigo or Cribo is supposed to be a big, robust, energetic snake. To have them in that condition is criminal IMHO.
Agreed, didn't know about the other pair tho'... hopefully they were in better shape.
Regards,
J.
'sides, nobody who frequents this forum would be swayed by that vendor and his imagined partnership. I'd like to think we know better.
Regards,
J.
I asked them who produced those snakes and he told me "Dean A."
I let him know that I know who you are and he didn't give me the line about being "partners" with you.
That's a new one by me.
Those snakes were smaller than they should be and definitely a bit thin and lethargic, but not on deaths door by any means.
Looks like they are on a maintenance diet just to keep em alive between shows!
I thought they were small "03's". I have "02's" that are 3 feet long and thicker than a cigar.
Did you produce the snakes that Dixon has for sale on the Classifieds?
Bobby
They did seem thin and awefully small for yearlings. Especially after seeing how my 03 babies from you are already growing. I assumed that they were just thin 03 babies. I hope they end up in a good home but they seemed a bit overpriced for their current condition. If he wants to sell them at that price he's going to need to start feeding them and get them up to a respectable size for their age.
(mine are incredible by the way
Chris
I was thinking that he said '02, but I could be mistaken about that, or he could have had a brain fade...whichever. They certainly did NOT look like '02's to me. They looked like smallish '03's. Whichever they were, the price was very high. I didn't even ask him who produced them...I knew I wasn't going to buy them anyway. Like you said, he's going to have to get some size on them before he gets that kind of money out of them.
The guy told me they were "02's"
The person I'm referring to has 1.1 CB03 Texas Indigos on his price list for $1200. (see link)
These are the only ones I saw at the Daytona show. I never spoke with him though.
Chris

Yep, that's him. I spoke to him. I thought he said they were 02's, but you know, I've said one thing before while thinking something else, too. Thinking back, they were small enough that I don't see how they COULD have been '02's and still be alive. They had to be '03's.
I know what the guy said and what he said was that those snakes were 1.1 "02's" produced by Dean A.
I verified that with Dean.
I also thought it was strange how they were that small for beong that old, but a strict maintenance diet will keep an animal stunted.
The guy I spoke with was a well know herper from Sandusky, Ohio.
No names need be mentioned.
It's gotta be the same guy.
I've been there man...(ask Dannio!)
But, judging from the smile on your face, it was't as bad as it looks!
Watch out for the feeding response bites. They are a lot worse than the "aggressive" bites!
