Thank God I have a pacman frog who is a rodent garbage disposal.
My 2 eager feeders aren't interested at all in these f/t rats. They were eating live mice before, so should I try to scent the f/t rats? I also held them under the heat lamp to try to make them appear alive by giving them a body temp and did the wiggle by the tail and hope that they strike at the rat and not me thing too but while they smelled them and appeared interested it was more of a "What is this" kind of interested than a "FOOD!" interested. I only took them off their feeding schedule for a week so they haven't suffered any kind of problem from lack of food yet. I thought about getting them a mouse and lining the rat up to go down the hatch too after the mouse but have never done this before and was wondering if it would be effective at making them understand that rats are food or if I would have to have a mouse appetizer every time I want to feed. Kind of defeats the purpose. Also will they always continue to strike and constrict before consuming or after a while do they start just consuming without the big song and dance? Will I always have to do the dead rat dance to get my kids to eat or will they eventually learn? Any help is appreciated especially since this is a often talked about subject.
