Texas rat Question

bigbearhook May 11, 2009 09:33 AM

Ok so i'm considering getting a Leucistic Texas Rat from a local pet store. I know. It's always better to get a snake from a breeder. However, this one has been there a long time, getting good sized and I used to work there so I know it's a pretty good animal. AMAZING temperment. Reminds me of a corn. Anyway. It's a Leucistic but has one brown scale on it's back. Is this common or is it a sign of something wrong. It didn't have it when I worked there and an old friend who still is there said he noticed it out of no-where a couple months ago. Should I be concerned?

It's common, the spots are usual red or black, but generally thay will have a few scales with color. nothing to worry about

that happens in some of the leucistics. There was a guy who kept getting leucistic black rats with one red scale.

It's just an odd scale.

I have a beautiful male Lavender Texas rat snake. He was quite a pissant when I first got him. Now he eats dead right off the paper and doesn't want to bite my face off anymore.

My female lavender is still kind of a pissant, but I still love the little beauty.

Thanks, I believe she was Terry Walter's original.
I could be wrong. She never seemd to tame down, She will take f/t from my hand, but will not let me touch her without drawing first blood.

Thanks for sharing pics.
