Whats up with my Tic and Rabbits

rottenweiler9 May 11, 2009 11:59 AM

Hello,

A few months ago, I got my tic to eat a rabbit. I had to feed him two rats first then he went after the rabbit. Next week he ate the rabbit. two weeks ago his off week to feed and he snapped at the glass when I was feeding rats to everyone else. I put a rabbit in there and he does nothing. I then give it a week and put a rabbit in again and nothing. I know he is hungry, do I need to go back to the rat and then the rabbit. I thought he would have had the taste of rabbit and now be good?

Thanks

Just an idea. But the scent of rats may trigger his feeding response. I typically give it about 4-5 feedings of a rat then rabbits with my snakes before I make the final switch to rabbits. I have an 8' Green Anaconda who still "wakes up" to feed when there's a mouse in the room.
