Well she reabsored her eggs last summer, my male wasnt mature (he is a runt, I dont think he will ever be big enough to pin her), the three she laid were enormous, but solid, and hardened when I got to them. Because the big male she is paired with was in the lay box, and because he bit me when I tried to pick him up to remove him, I'm wondering if she is upset that I took her eggs, or if she is paranoid he is going to harm them etc, I'm going to take him out this evening and put in a second lay box, see if she is happier in that one.
Eve is prolly your best bet to ask whether its common in the western species, she has a lot of the yellow heads. My Bicinctores never lay more than 3 per clutch, but their eggs too are enormous, i guess because they have more growing room with smaller numbers.
My Texan female laid on Friday too, but hers were 2xsolid and 5x squishy. The squishy ones turned mouldy but a little athletes foot powder applied with a mega soft paint brush fixed that, those 5 are a little deflated, but they are fertile, so thats a tad frustrating.
The auriceps wont take fluids from a dripper unless its crestie diet, so she's on that mixed with hydrolife, I just hope she lays these eggs pretty soon, feel so bad for her, she is out the lay box, but looking so tired all the time, and she hasnt eaten a thing since she started laying
Fingers crossed for you anyway sweets x
