Fresh shed Moonglow litter pics

rainbowsrus May 11, 2009 05:49 PM

They started shedding out last night, about 2/3 of the litter has shed by lunch time today (including a couple of the Moonglows) so I started taking pics. No flash pics on the Moonglows as those never turn out.

Nice looking Moonglows Dave!
That has to be hard picking out the Moonglows from Snows, even though the Moonglows should have like a Sunglow type pattern. I guess a person just has to have or see a litter of those in person to really be able to tell... They look so close.

I did prove my Moonglow out to my Albino Arab het Snow. She produced a Snow Arab, Moonglow, 1 Sunglow Arab, 1 Sunglow and 2 Albinos. The Albino Arab proved out too, as she was possible het Anery!

Congrats on all your litters so far!

And add to that I've only ever seen my four little ones and they all have the same look. Totally second guessing myself over and over and over again.

So, w/out influencing you in any way, how do you tell them apart? Details!!

Dave

I was using my adult Moonglow as a referance and kind of relying on the saddles to look more towards how a Sunglow's saddles would look... Not how a Snow or Albino's saddles would...
Both Snows and Moonglows yellow out to a degree, but I think the Moonglows color stays more on the pinkish and light yellowish side with their tail blotches having a lot more white inside of the blotch its self... You really can't distinguish the ring around the tail blotches well, because they kind of blend together into the white that's inside the blotch it's self...

The saddles tend to be more on the lavender side, with little to no bubbles or circles inside them, (kinda like a Sunglow) not a Albino or Snow they tend to have more bubles inside their saddles...I believe? Hope this helps a little. I'm no pro by any means, this is just some of what I go by and a little of what I've been told by other people... It's really a tough call on some of them...

Thanks and good luck decipherring those babies!
