Brooks concern

54podge May 11, 2009 09:52 PM

so, my big female snow has still shown no interest in my male. As per a suggestion I read from Bluerosy, I have caged them together for a few weeks. She really rattle her tail when he tries his best moves on her, to the point where she has noticeable damage on the tip (a bit has obviously broken off and it is red/scabbing over). Should I be concerned about this? It probably isn't more than a 1/4" that looks to have come off.

Also, is it time to separate them or will she eventually come around?

All you have to do is let your female crawl between your fingers(to palpate) and when you feel ovum(string of pearls) she WILL copulate. Its just that easy.

Without that little tool, you will spend your life guessing.

The reality is, a female will become receptive about five days before she releases her ovum(the string of pearls) She is receptive until those ovum enlarge to full sized eggs. Which can be about two weeks. Good luck

I have had females with short tails. It seems when the male tries to copulate the tails just don't line up properly. Thus- the female never gets fertilized.

However, it does not sound like the tail on yours is to short.
Post a pic if you can!

I will post a pic tonight. Is the "string of pearls" easily noticeable? I have tried that and never felt anything (which makes sense as to why she has not accepted him)

Just leave them together and then you will have nothing to worry about.

She has some healthy weight so she should go soon.

That tail looks fine. A male will not have a problem copulating with that.

he has been relentless with her since I took those pics. She might be giving in a bit as she is either tired or giving herslef up to the inevitable. My boy has the drive of a 16 yr old human!

Hi- I had that same problem last year to the point where my female never became receptive. I also didn't cool her very much during winter. This year I brumated her well and she readily bred. Just throwing that out there. good luck
