BHP Eggs

Snakesunlimited1 May 12, 2009 12:45 PM

Some of you may remember that I had some X-Rays of my female that showed ova in her about a month ago. Well she laid last night and I ended up with 14 that look viable, 7 that are slugs, for a total of 21 from the slide that showed 15-18 with overlaps. Not too shabby for a snake that is supposed to average 8 eggs!!

Now the hard part, not killing them by doing something wrong in incubation...

Here are some pics of my eggs. I had a problem with them rolling and at first used chopsticks but then worried about water absorbtion so I switched to straws as seen. I did have them spaced out more at first but went ahead with this setup in the end. I am gonna leave them be for a while and then try to candle in a week or so. One egg is in with the slugs because it came much later, if it goes bad it is isolated. The slugs have another day and then I am tossing them... starting to stink.

Jason....get the eggs away from the sides of the container. When the sides get wet.....your going to soak your eggs. Not good.

Put them in the middle of the container.....far away from the sides.

Cheers,
D.
