My FL Kingsnakes tail has gone from matching its body to a very dark brown. I can't seem to locate any information on the web. Is this common for the FL King as it ages or should I be looking at something specific?

What does the texture of the tail feel like? Does it feel hard and less flexible then it should even somewhat dry or crisp? Sometimes during a shed the skin on the tip of the tail fails to come off. This old skin can constrict the blood flow to the tail tip and cause the tip to die. I have a snow corn that lost his tail tip this way. The tail tip may just fall off but if it does not I would have a vet take a look at it. The danger is the possibility of it spreading further up the tail. It is called "dry gangrene" and is more common in iguanas.
