How high can hatchlings jump?

JackAsp May 12, 2009 02:21 PM

I'm probably a lot safer finding that out BEFORE I decide what to do for baby cribs...
Eggs haven't hatched yet, of course, juat don't want to wait until the last minute.

I just hope my first set waits until next week after I get my grades in! LOL!

You have to be careful with collareds of any size, I think. They will fool you. They are the most agile little buggers that I have ever kept, well, besides blue spiny swifts. You need to plan to keep a secure lid on their enclosure at all times or you will be hunting babies in your house! I have had three collareds escape, and all of my blue spinys have escaped several times each because I just didn't count on them being able to not only jump that well, but to maneuver upside down to the side and get out! Fortunately, the spinys are big babies and practically begged to be let back in their tanks within 24 hours (LOL), but I never saw the collareds again. Their vivs were in the outer roos, and they escaped to the great outdoors.
