Some of you old hats are used to all this and I bet you were ready when your girls started laying. Why did I think I would have until the Spring semester was over at school????
Mamasita just gave me another 7 eggs over the weekend, and I knew that Fancy Dancer is gravid, but I procrastinated until today to get the stupid sand and nest in. She didn't seem THAT gravid, but I knew she was getting close. Well, no sooner did I get the stupid giant sand cave with the little sand yard next to it (some of these girls obviously prefer no roof!)built that Mamasita looks me right in the eye, grins, I SWEAR, and calls dubs on the big cave! She dug a little crater right in the MIDDLE so that Fancy Dancer can't dig anywhere, plopped her behind in it, and refuses to move! You should see the look on her face when I raise the slate! So what does poor Fancy dancer do? Well, she is out there right now, 10pm, trying to lay in the little sand yard next to the cave! Thank goodness she's not a digger. But now I hate to turn the stupid lights out!
The WT girls have not laid in a few days, and both still have eggs, but both are eating a few crix here and there, so I hope they are just resting. they look better, but still thin.
