Burmese disposition change

bishopm1 May 13, 2009 06:16 PM

Hi you all experienced keepers. My young 1.5 year old albino burmese female Honeybutter has been a nice girl as long as I have had herfor the last 6 months. She is 5' in length. She did rise to meet me and come out of her enclosure willingly. I did not handle her for a while, like about a month. Now she hisses and shoves me away with her coils. She does not bite, but there is a big difference in her temperment. Her huspandry and feeding are all OK. Is this a phase or have I done something wrong by not handling her weekly at least?

Could be lack of handling. They do get a little hissy when you don't work with them. Mine get a little grouchy when they start going into shed also. Even before they go heavy into blue. Rich

Mine doesn't go for long without handling, but he is grouchy close to a shed. It starts when his underside begins gets pink, before the blue/opaque. He's always crabby for a few days after a meal.

Lack of handling possibly? Like everyone else said, and it could be a shed thing if it's going into shed.

However if it's not, and it isn't biting. Handle it more, and see if it calms down?

I handle mine at least three times a week, but usually every day (not counting the day it eats and the day after).
