When it rains it pours!

So I got home today from the hospital... tired as can be from very little sleep from staying up with my brand new baby son... and I walked into my boa room just to do a quick sweep because it had been a few days and I smelled something interesting... BABIES! I was a bit over-excited and grabbed one of them and walked out of the room to show my wife and mother in law... but they both just yelled at my because I was dripping goo everywhere.

She wasnt due until the end of the month as per her POS but all these babies are full term. It couldnt have happened at a worse time... I am absolutely dead with no energy from being at the hospital. I understand many people leave their babies in the cage for a period after they're born... so I figured what the heck - I'm sure they'll be fine and could wait until morning. I did want to snap a few photos to share with you all though.

This is a repeat pairing from 2007. My supersalmon male to my EBV red group female.

I'm not certain on the numbers but it looks like around 15. She had 30 in her last litter.

Here's what one of my holdbacks from the 07 litter looks like (recent outdoor photo):

I'll go through them tomorrow to get a head count. For now I'm off to bed... I can barely keep my eyes focused.

So, having the best "litter" wasn't enough, had to have a runner up as well??

LOL, congrats and get some sleep if you can.

those babies are designed to make it on their own. Isn't it funny how they seem to know when we are least likely feel like bothering them. I stay up all night trying to get video an photos of the birth everytime they park in their nest and the second I collapse from exhaustion they have them. I have missed all 5 litters so far this season and only have 3 more chances. Tonight could be the night. Alas, exciting times for you my friend. I am happy for you.
