Jesse joined the Bleeders Club!

While I was at work yesterday, Jesse was hanging out in my snake room with his pet sunglow boa, Captain Jack. He always liked my big ’98 albino girl, Lemondrop, but didn’t see her in her enclosure, so he opened it and started prodding around to make sure she didn’t escape. I could have told him she had been hiding under newspaper for the last 3 days but he found out the hard way. She gave him a quick slap of the teeth, one of those ‘I just woke up; what the heck is that; stay away!’ bites.

Jes said he suddenly felt like his hand was slammed in a door and then it started bleeding like crazy. I thought that was a good description. It was his first bite from a snake bigger than 2’. He took Lemondrop out right away and held her for a while until she calmed down (I taught him good, huh?).

No pics from when it happened but snapped these when I got home. She got him with half of her mouth, it left some pretty nasty bruising (looks worse in person):

Here’s the culprit trying to look innocent last night. Now if only I could get Jes to clean the cages… ha!

Jesse is now officially a member of the bleeders club, dues have been paid.
