Help with eggs!

dskagen May 15, 2009 01:55 PM

I got a clutch of 18 eggs from my sunglow motley about a week ago and it had 4 slugs in it and a possibly bad one. I separated the slugs from the start but left the one that might be bad seeing it was glued in the middle of about 5 eggs. Now the possible is defiantly bad and starting to mold, how should i go about separating it from the good ones with out damaging them?
Any help would be appreciated.

how to separate

you don't

sometimes they will come right off after they mold up a little , sometimes they are stuck to the end no matter how hard you pull or twist

let it there...

wipe the good eggs off every once in awhile, Q-Tips (dry) or even a Kleenex....(yes they are both just brand names and trademarked items, use any brand)..LOL...

....keep the moldy egg dry as possible...

You don't need to seperate them - a bad egg will not make the others go bad. Sometimes you can "twist off" bad eggs, but if in the middle of a clutch, I'd leave it be.

If it can not be seperated safely, most people rec just leaving it. It going bad will not harm good eggs.
If you were mindset on taking it out, then make sure it is the bad egg that gets damaged, dont harm the good ones.
Honestly, if you doubt that you can get them apart safely, just leave it.
