3" flexwatt

stormwulf133 May 16, 2009 11:20 AM

I know 4" which is what I normally use can only be cut in the sections between the black lines, but I have been told that 3" can be cut anywhere along the length. The lines on the 4 inch are like this ][ the three inch are like this // . Is this correct?

Any of the sizes can be cut at any length. So long as a there are no exposed edges of continuous element between the conductor.

Meaning the black part between the copper conductors should be cut all the way through unless the element doesn't create a connection on one side.

To expand on Jeremy's point.....

Yes, flexwatt can be cut at ANY point in it's length. But no matter where you cut, the latteral traces need to be either completely severed from one side OR completely undamaged.

Those that are cut MUST be insulated with electrical tape as they are LIVE circuits.

The ][ ones can easily be cut straight across betwen the traces.

The // ones can either be cut diagonally between the traces OR cut straight across provided any cut traces are FULLY cut.

Electrically speaking, you may cut 3", 4" or 11" anywhere you please. Just seal all exposed conductors and traces with good quality electrical tape.

If you do not adequately seal the cut edges with insulating tape, then you can get shocked.
