I know this isnt the best place to post this question and I relize that this problem is most likly due to some error in husbandry so Im prepared to be harped on. However onto my problem, the past 2 weeks or so Ive noticed groups of 2 or three mushrooms growing on the cool side(around 75-78 F) of my 6'x3'x3' sav enclosure. There is a large water bowl on this side of the enclosure so there is also more moisture on this side. The mushrooms have appeared in various spots on this side of the tank three times and I have removed them immediately each time. Im guessing its something wrong with my substrate, Im using eco-earth (ground up coconut shells). Some where online I actully read that coconut shells are a common soil used to breed/cultivate mushrooms, so that could possibly be my entire problem. However Ive added and taken out this same soil for about 10 months and never had mushrooms before. Im just wondering if anyone has any insite into this situation or any suggestions, and also if these are harmfull to my sav if I should remove him or not. As soon I get the time I will most likely just replace the substrate with something more suitable. Thanks in advance
