I think I get this

the snake smells the mice

but it feels the skin, the skin moves partly as the snake touches another part of it...feel, pull, wrap, the more it wraps and pulls the more it feels the skin moving...so it wraps more./..

....this is why I ALWAYS take the skin out before I feed, if they eat the skin it will pass in tact through their system, and they will defecate the whole things out, all in one piece....not cool........

also why I feed live, so they are dry and they can find them

or I feed on / in a bowl/cup/lid/ or even on top of paper....so they find them and also don't ingest chips as much as possible...

........I have had snakes wrap the water bowl too...it moves....
