Sorry, I guess it's not going to work. You see the pic for a split second, then it's a pic of two grizzlies, which I did not find in my backyard.

I think I got it this time, sorry!

I thought that at first as well but the more I looked at it the more I saw "red rat snake"
It looks like a nice old wild corn with the two stripes down the back. I have seen several that have definite black stripes down the bacdk. Especially from certain angles.
I would love to see a larger pic of the snake

At first I thought yellow as well but after looking closer I see red on the blotches, so it's a red with the striping. Lots of them get the stripes with age it seems.
There are hybrids of course but they generally look cooler

Wow first glance Yellow....BUT
Closer scrutiny it looks like the some of the male reds that have strong stripes.
.
In this enhancement, you can just see black checkboard underneath the neck and orange lateral spots.

Nice looking snake. If you ask me I think it looks like it could be a corn x yellow/everglades intergrade. Either way cool looking snake.
I haven't checked here in a few days and wow! He was red with black. He was in the field behind our house. We live in lower South Carolina. I've seen rat snakes all my life but never a red (not wild anyway). We had a black one in the yard today, but I only got a crappy photo with my camera phone and you can't really see him. Glad everyone enjoyed the pic!
