Meet El Dude or is it El Dudet!!!! (Male/Female)

Psy Sep 13, 2003 01:01 PM

I named her before i found out she might be female!

A friend of mine said you can tell by the length from their bum hole to the end of the tale.

Quarter of the whole length = male
Eighth of the whole length = female

Is this true? If not. Can anybody tell me how you can sex a pine snake without probing (Nasty AND Wrong!!!).

Well, she's going to the vet on Monday maybe he can tell me

hard to say from that angle though. you might get him to a diner first and forget about the vet for now. he looks like he could use a meal......or two. good luck w/ him.

Ahh you think it might be male!

Ive had her/him a month now. I feed her 3 mice and 2 rats a week. Do u think she looks malnurished. The person i got her/him from didnt look after her/him to well. I have to take her to the vet anyway for some problem scales and a checkup anyway. So..

Cheers

As long as it is done right its probably the most accurate and least traumatic method of sexing a snake. The method you mention might work but individual variation in body/tail growth rates could make it inaccurate. Nice looking pine in any case.

Put yourself in the snake's position, how would you like to be probed. LOL

The friend who told me this method keeps corn snakes, so it might be different for pines.

Cheers
