Completely OT....but awesome......

JKruse May 17, 2009 10:31 PM

Don't mind my sharing, but I felt compelled to brag about my daughter Brandee's final standing in the John Chung 25th Anniversary taekwon do tournament here in New Hyde Park, NY.....she nailed first place in 5 out of 6 events and achieved Grand Champion in her division ! ! ! A little coaching at home didn't hurt either (BIG GRIN). Interestingly enough, while at her celebratory dinner tonight, she asked about the gravid zonata females that will be laying in the coming couple of weeks -- and no conversation was going on at all about snakes -- my little girl is following in daddy's footsteps in more ways than one at this point. BOOYAHHHH!!! Now to find a place for the trophy....and certainly NOT in storage with daddy's.

Thanks for peeking in !!!

with judges....

with her kwanjangnim (grandmaster, in Korean) Howard Chung, 7th dan, elder brother and mentor to world forms and fighting champion John Chung....

and back at home doing one of our many favorite things....

AND NOW BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING . . . . . .

VERY NICE Jerry. Give her a big congrats from the forum guys! You still have your trophies at least. I threw all mine out about three moves ago. Tired of messing with them! You will need all of your skills when that young girl gets into her teens my friend! Well, I guess if she keeps up with what she is doing she will be able to handle things herself. I am not looking forward to mine getting older either. As I am getting older my body hurts so bad that I think if someone were to hit me real hard I would turn into a pile of dust.

LOL You are not alone there. I still have a long wait before my 2yo gets to that point but I greet the day when I get to have a little sit down with Jr before he takes her to the school dance lol. Wasn't it Bill Engvall that said "listen here Jr, I'm not afraid to go back to jail" lol.

Tell your daugther congrats and keep up the work(make it fun)

I spend a good part of my life doing such things. Boxed first, then wrestled thru High School and College, Of course AAU during and after. Did some martial arts as well.

The training is of great value in life. Just keep her limber and the injuries to a minimum.

I am still in fighting shape, even at 61 with 5 grandkids.

Again congrats to her AND to you. Cheers

Frank, you made me wanna hug you for a second....caught me soft. Dang! LOL. But thank you. I look forward to more debates in the future.....but it's nice to have the gloves off for a few.

Brandee trains with me twice per week and, in a way, had a slight edge over her competitors. But it's all good...why not harness her natural talents? I see her potential with doing forms (which most people know the Japanese word "kata", however in Korean is "poomsae", and that would be fine by me. It's more fun to watch than fighting in my opinion and is a traditional way to celebrate the art. But mostly it's the intangible things that she will hopefully carry with her that mean the most to me...such as self-love and -respect as well as for others, and to embrace not just physical power but that of confidence and inner-peace that will help her get through the emotional tough times as well as the physical (God forbid...).

Anyway, thank you again.

I will let Brandee know that her "forum uncles" wished her well.

Jerry,

Please tell Brandee we said Congrats!!

That may be the largest trophy i have ever seen!! I have been looking your photo for a while and i think i might have a way to convert it into a nice 90 bin hatchling rack out of it..

Hope all is well!

Ayyyyye, Jerry!

A very big congratulations to you both, and hold onto your shorts, buddy- you are going to have your hands full in a couple of years! (as in boys lining up at your front door!)

I know- our oldest just turned 18- nothing ages a Dad like when their daughter turns into a teenager!

My god, we are all in trouble. Maybe in some way we think the snakes are going to scare the boys away!
