Don't mind my sharing, but I felt compelled to brag about my daughter Brandee's final standing in the John Chung 25th Anniversary taekwon do tournament here in New Hyde Park, NY.....she nailed first place in 5 out of 6 events and achieved Grand Champion in her division ! ! ! A little coaching at home didn't hurt either (BIG GRIN). Interestingly enough, while at her celebratory dinner tonight, she asked about the gravid zonata females that will be laying in the coming couple of weeks -- and no conversation was going on at all about snakes -- my little girl is following in daddy's footsteps in more ways than one at this point. BOOYAHHHH!!! Now to find a place for the trophy....and certainly NOT in storage with daddy's.
Thanks for peeking in !!!
with judges....

with her kwanjangnim (grandmaster, in Korean) Howard Chung, 7th dan, elder brother and mentor to world forms and fighting champion John Chung....

and back at home doing one of our many favorite things....

AND NOW BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING . . . . . .

And God said, "Let there be zonata subspecies for all to ponder..."

, and that would be fine by me. It's more fun to watch than fighting in my opinion and is a traditional way to celebrate the art. But mostly it's the intangible things that she will hopefully carry with her that mean the most to me...such as self-love and -respect as well as for others, and to embrace not just physical power but that of confidence and inner-peace that will help her get through the emotional tough times as well as the physical (God forbid...).
