Peoples, we need your help, now! We need a massive calling to the Honorable Senator Uresti's office POLITELY asking him to put back the language of HB 1500 into 3991!! Hey USARK, a little help?!! Please be brief and polite, ask for Jerry, let them know you will be vacationing elsewhere if the bill passes without the HB 1500 language. Let them know you spend YOUR money in Texas on vacation, but will be spending it elsewhere. Short and sweet, folks time is of the essence here!!! Do it, do it NOW!!! GET IT!!!

It should be HB3391 instead of HB3991. So the language of HB1500 needs to be added to HB3391.
Thanks for the post sir..! Lets get it done.

I think sometimes people don´t react to AR activism because they just don´t know how to react. Sometimes when I´m shocked, I get speechless and put out. The debate
The human mind is a terrific instrument, but unfortunately we recieve it with out a safety manual.
If I wrote myself safty manual behind the ear, it would be to consistently confront AR activists that are a big threat to my hobby. Failing to react towards AR activism is akin to being indifferent towards the value of ones own husbandry, in a certain manner. But in another respect.. reptile keepers couldn´t care less about AR activists unless an HR669 hit them on the head.
Before we rush to judge the "non-fighting" reptile keepers we should consider that reptile keeping is still legal in the US, and that the government has a responsability to make educated desicions on behalf of the people. The government is responsible for the loss of rights to responsible herpetoculture, the AR philosophy is the reason, and the reptile keeper is the victim.
On this thought.. if the AR organizations (ARO´s) are the cause of the problems we experiance, shouldn´t the responsible keeper be writing letter to the police, in accusation of the tyranny of ARO´s, in stead of writing letters to the government in protest to oppressing bans?

"we should consider that reptile keeping is still legal in the US, and that the government has a responsibility to make educated decisions on behalf of the people."

WRONG. The government has the responsibility to carry out decisions made by the people or the people's representation. The problem is that the beaurocracy is making off with the responsibility and is making decisions of its own accord... many times for the purposes of career sustainability for the government employees making the regulations.

"The government has the responsibility to carry out decisions made by the people or the people's representation."

That´s right, but the government also has the duty to respect and defend the rights of the free Americains. If there was a national vote tomorrow, regarding the banning of ball pythons. The majority of the population would vote in support for the ban, but that doesn´t make it right to ban ball pythons, from a conservational view point...

And remember Uresti did not remove the language so be nice and take the 1-2 minutes to call and log your position... "Please add HB1500 language back to HB3391 please because I lighten my wallet ever year in your district"

From what I've got here it should be SB, not HB. As I understand it, it is a plea to a Senator to add language from a House Bill to a Senate Bill.
"Ask Senator Uresti to add language of HB 1500 by Representative Tracy King to Senator Hegar's Senate BIll SB 3391."

I did call. Very simple. The Senator's aid answered the phone almost immediately. Instantly knew what I was referring to. Took my name and phone number and that was it. No problem.
I also wrote a short letter and faxed it.
Got my fingers crossed.

USARK May 18, 2009 12:00 PM

We were asked by Joe Forks, President of HCU, last Friday to help. We were prepared to send out an action alert today, but were contacted by Joe and instructed not to take action. Time lines were never discussed and we have received no explanation as to what is going on. We defer to Joe's judgment on this issue.
