Blonde Tpos X Sharp Albino litter.......

Ruben14 May 19, 2009 11:14 AM

At 4:39pm on Sunday May 18th I get a call at work from the GF and she says we're having babies! My first question was "where in the nest box"? No,on the other side. Of course! So I tell her to leave her be and check in on her in a litte bit. At that point she saw the first few come out which was her first time seeing that and she's pretty stoked about being able to see nature in action. Anyways,i'm freakin out at work and finally can't take it no more and ask the big guy if I can go. I tell him the reason and he understood. Now for the race home! I get home to see what I got and there lay 21 perfect Double Hets for Sharp Albino and Blonde T and no slugs! I didn't get any of those special ones that Pete Rice got but I wasn't the least bit suprised about that due to the odds in Peters litter. He got 4 out of 19 I believe. Was Peters litter just luck of the draw and he got a few Blondes from it? I don't know. The animals from that litter look somewhat like Blondes but a more extreme version. I know someone in the U.K. thats also waiting for a litter from this pairing so we'll have to see if he gets my results or Peters. Looking at the big picture. We still need to see what happenes when the Double Hets are bred back together. The same goes for Tracy's Double Het Sharp/VPI's. I mean Anery is a visual recesive gene and so is the Sharp Albino gene. Breed those together and you get normal Double Hets. Then breed those DH's together and you get a new Boa,Snow. If thats the case here, well then i'm totally happy with a possible new recesive Gene. So, all is not lost and i'm very happy to have 21 BIG healthy full term Babies! There's even a trouble maker in the group already! A little mover and shaker if you will. I turned my back for 20 seconds and he was out of the tub headed for the supply area. I'm sure he'll/she'll be a keeper! Anyways enough outa me here's a pic in the cage after I pulled some of the news paper out and one in the tub o'goo! Oh and the proud Momma is doing great and was very good to me. She let me pick her up and put her in a fresh cage with no problems and her first litter was a perfect litter! I can't ask for any more then that! Ok,Ok here's the pix! Thanks for looking! Ruben Michel

I am so happy that you got such a nice looking healthy big litter! I can tell how excited you are/were in your post, good times.

I can't recall pics of Peter's litter. drat. Sounds like you didn't get quite what you were hoping for with this outcome or just hit some bad odds. Either way, very exciting project and can't wait to see what those DH's produce. You can send a couple over here if you have too many.

Congrats again!

I've been gone for a minute and find that I missed alot. Big congrats on that litter Ruben! Post pics. of dad.

Ruben14 May 20, 2009 10:20 AM

Here's a more recent pic of Dad. He has a lot of speckling but I noticed as he grows he's lightening up a lot. I was told they do that and they sure do. I definitely have to thank Marc N.,Peter R. for for the animal and getting him over here and I can't forget Alex B.for the help on our side. I like how the babies came out with Moms and Dads saddles. I was suprised there wasn't more striping in the litter do to Dads stripe but they definitly have his saddles with a twist of Moms. Sharps were known for having blockey peaked saddles in the early stock but as the Hypo gene got more and more involved the peaking started going away. Now a days you can still see it in Sharp stock but it's usually the first few saddles starting at the head-down that have them. Heres a pic of her and Dad and one of the kids. Hopefully you can see what i'm talking about from the pic. If not i'll take more pix when they shed. Enjoy! After looking at the preview it's hard to see on the babies but a lot of them have their first few saddles peaked from the head down like Momma but with Dads saddles. Anyways,Enjoy, again!

He's awesome, Ruben. Congrats on that nice litter and its too bad it didn't work out quite the way you thought it would. It just raises more questions, eh? Thats a beautiful sharp girl there, by the way!!!
