Living together?

I have 3 BRBs, two 9 month olds and 1 2-year old. They all have their own cages and are very happy and healthy. However, I just got offered a FREE BRB from a fellow college kid who is graduating and can't keep his snake. It's a 3 year old, in great health and beautiful, but I'm not sure I have the space for it. I figured I'd ask the experts here a couple things. Would it be ok to have my current 2-year old share a 55 gallon set-up with the 3 year old? If not, would an adult BRB be happy in something smaller than a 55, possibly a 40 breeder? The 55 is long and takes up a lot of space on my rack, but 2 40 beeders could replace it. I really would hate to pass up a free brb, but I have to make sure I will be able to keep them all happy. Thanks for your help, you guys on this forum are the best!

I'm sure others here could answer this better, but aside from the fact that snakes are best kept separately, you MUST quarantine the new snake before putting it with your new ones, I'd say for at least a month or two to make sure nothing's up with it. So even if the space works out, you'd need some time to have them apart. But as a fellow college student moving my snakes to an apartment next year, I feel your pain about not having enough room!

Honestly. a cage big enough for one snake is usually big enough for two. Although, eventually, you might want to consider something with more floor space than a 55-gallon for a full-grown Brazilian. I keep two 6-ft females together in a cage that has 24 x 48 inches of floor space.

Maybe it goes without saying but remember, when keeping these animals together ALWAYS feed them separately.
