Jeffrey buddy, that ain't a regular ole caramel, they were labeled Crider line Caramel and/or African Noah line Caramel and have since been proven incompatable to the established xanthic lines out there. They've been recently rightly renamed Ultramel.

Here's a pic of a younger specimens.

yea , I read the next posts...

so Noah caramels....might they be caramel x somethings???

...anyways....might want a new name...I never heard of an ultramel ball before....nothing new that I didn't know something...but ultramel corns are grey rat xcorn hybrids....and you all might not want hybrid thoughts in a name?...just my one cent...I figure the name is here to stay whoever chose it...

...so......anyways....Paragon....I want a Paragon anyway they can be made.....work on it....LOL.......!!!

...another thought...mine...I don't like when there are more than one things that look alike...makes things weird in the future....is this what line and that line and people might get the wrong couples and all....anyways....

have fun. ..

dont hate me if my spelling is sucks on this. lol
There is the caramel albino and the ultramel albino. Both are T albino I believe. But they are not compatible from what I have read. Not to sure on burgandy albino. Havent heard of that one but have heard of burgandy(just not albino).

The Burgundy albino, Ultramel, Paragon, Candy and Toffee all appear to be very similar animals but I don't think anyone has established any certainty of whether they are the same as of yet.

The hatchling candy looks very different than the young ultramel. As far as ultramel and burgandy albino I do believe they look similar. I would break these up into two groups of similarly looking animals. However, it's tough to say at this point since many are comparing adults to young animals, etc.

Ultramel/Crider Caramel?/Burgundy Albino

and:

Toffee/Paragon/Candy

I am going off of photos so I could be wrong.

I think the name ultramel is not that great as it is used in other species to describe an albino combo and just like Ghost it makes many think of hypo anery crosses and not one single mutation. I am in favor of droping any name that has caramel in it as they are not caramels at all and that promotes more confusion as well. What name keepers go with is not up to me but those are my thoughts on that. I do think the former African/Noah Caramels (now called Ultramels), Crider Caramels, and the Burgundy Albino are the same mutation almost without question. How the Toffe, Paragon, and Candy fit into the puzzle will have to be seen down the road.

I don't know how all these neat looking ball pythons relate to each other, but I do know there are a few ball pythons in collections yet to be "exposed". I also think the Barker's coined the name Burgandy albino from an imported female, so only time will tell what the others are.

Nice, what is this one called?

norajohn May 22, 2009 09:34 AM

Don't really have a name for it. It is not a combo of two morphs as the parents are normal looking and this offspring was not expected. There is an interesting story behind the parents, but I'm not sure anyone would believe me.
