WE GOT BABIES.... 1st timer..

Pithons May 20, 2009 08:16 AM

Well, I bred a male moonglow to a big female motley that is poss het albino. I didnt count the exact # of hypos to motleys. But I do have 29 live babies and 1 premi and 5 potatos. The female was poss het albino. Funny thing is I got one, yes only one albino out of the 29(or 30 if you count the premi). I think that is kinda wierd. Is that considered proof that she is het albino? I mean, I should have had about 7-8 albinos in here. Weird. Here is a pic of the mom before she gave birth.

It looks like a few of them have bigger bellies. And a few have the cord still attached to the bellies. Do I need to cut it off? Do they come off naturally? If anyone can call me with advise would be great. 978-317-6845, Dave.

Here is a nice pic of one of the hypo motleys het snow

Pithons May 20, 2009 10:06 AM

I guess I was to excited and wanted to pick them all up first to count. I probablely should have left them in the tank. But here are all 29 babies. Not an exact count on the motleys or hypo motleys het snow, but I guess to be about 16-17 mots and 8-9 are hypo. Best of all, they are all 100% het snow. I plan to breed back a male hypo mot to a big snow girl I have to produce moonglow motleys. Im also happy that mom proved out het albino. Still scratching my head on why I only got one albino. The albino actually has a kink in its spin, so Im not sure if it will make it. Also I noticed another motley had a simular kink in the spin too.

such a FINE litter. Hate to hear about the kinks in the spines of some and the low albino ratio but all of the good stuff far outweighs that. Awesome!

Someone is going to have to help me on this one but, id have to say no. Thou I never heard of anyone breeding a moonglow to a motley het albino, but I have seen baby motleys dbl het snow before. Just I never seen hypo motleys 100% het snow. I just cant wait to breed a hypo motley het snow to my big snow girl, as well as other possiblities, its endless what can be produced with these motley triple hets.

Pithons May 20, 2009 03:21 PM

Im sorry, i meant to say Yes, as it probabley has been done. But i never heard of it. I gotta say that the male moonglow was a 4 1/2ft 18 month old male. And the female motley het albino is a big 05 female. I cant wait to bred this pair again next year.

symetryexotics May 20, 2009 04:35 PM

... I bet you're really stoked right now! Thats some crazy odds there with only 1 albino! You need to take better pics and put them all in one post! Have fun with those babies and give me a call if you have any questions.

Pithons May 20, 2009 10:41 AM

Thanks shane, Yea I am stoked. I made a post yesterday and today, babies. I swear that some of these babies look anery and the albino actually looks like a snow. I gotta clean them off and get some close up pics of the animals. But after the clean up work is dont, then its time for the best part. Picking the holdbacks.. Cant wait.
Oh Shane, the pair I got from you are still doing super. The hypo is busting with color and the female still has the sickest pattern I seen yet in a motley form. I may be calling you later on with some questions about the bellies, and if I should be cutting the cord to the bellies. Thanks. - Dave Savickey

Congrats on such a nice litter.

While being significantly low, only one albino in the bunch is not uneard of. Still, does prove out the pos het albino as het albino.

Sounds like decent odds on the Mots and Hypos though!!!
