Hi,was wondering how the albino iguana's deal with the sun or artificial lighting and not get burned one would think the lack of dark pigment would cause them to burn. Thanks,Bob

Actually contrary to popular belief they deal with the sun exactly like normal Iguanas. The sun doesn't have any detrimental effect on them at all. It is an urban legend that they sunburn. Albino's don't see well in the sun but they are NOT blind or blinded by the sun.

Actually that is the ONLY blue one I have. It's much bigger than that pic now. The blue colored ones are a simple recessive trait like an albino. Over time I will breed it to an albino and produce double hets. It is I believe an axanthic and if I'm right from the double hets one in 8 or one in 16 would be a blizzard lizard, a pure white iguana with pink eyes. Over time we'll see if I'm correct....thanks

Interesting. I read in Jim Hatfields book or MK's about some blue iguana iguanas (not the blue diamond) that were imported a while back. Most died of of RI from poor shipping. There is a picture of a beautiful adult male that survived named Throckmorton I think. Well if anybody can do it- it would be you. Thanks
