Jungle litter born last night!

kylefrost May 20, 2009 02:21 PM

The wait is finally over! Mom is a nice normal and the Dad was a Red Group Jungle. This was her first litter and my first litter as well. There were only a couple of slugs and 21 perfect babies total. The Jungles and normals are all pretty clean looking .
I felt bad taking the babies from her so I stayed up an extra hour late last night thawing a rat for her, which she gladly accepted in trade.
That's it for me this year. Congrats to all who have had good litters and good luck to those expecting!

JJsBoas May 20, 2009 07:11 PM

Hey Kyle,

Just got home and couldn't wait to check out pics of your litter after talkin' to you today. Not bad for a first litter. I can only imagine how psyched you are. That one light, pink baby in the 2nd pic is sweet!!! I'm assuming it's a jungle because it sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the litter. Awesome, buddy. Big congrats again. Can't wait to find some time to come check them out.

Later,

Jay

kylefrost May 20, 2009 07:25 PM

Thanks Jay. That one and a few others are pretty obviously Jungles in person. There are a few that look like low expression Jungles but compared to clean, colorful normal siblings, I will have to take a closer look. I haven't had more than a moment to glance at them since they were born. I can't wait to get home to see them again.
Best of luck with your projects this year! Keep me posted

Treeserpent May 20, 2009 07:43 PM

Looks like you got some color in there!

kylefrost May 21, 2009 10:13 AM

Thanks. Both parents were pretty colorful. I can't wait for the babies to put on some size and color themselves.

Great Litter!
Awesome Red Groups in there, can't wait to see some post-shed pics....
Not sure about the jungle though, Please post pics of the dad. It is very difficult for me to see any jungle in that litter especially with the influence from the red group.

kylefrost May 23, 2009 07:35 PM

Thanks Robert. The sire is a proven Red Group Jungle whos line has been notorious for producing low expression and possibles. I don't have a pic handy of the father but here is one of his offspring from last year. Clearly Jungle, but low expression. There are a few obvious ones in the litter and I hope to know definitively on a few more after first shed. The Jungles from this line look nice, but so do the normals- makes it tough.
