Pen, pencil, marker... Whatever works for you is fine.

It's prob. a good idea, but i have been breeding snakes since 1993 and have never once maked an egg..

Good Luck!

Just leave her alone until she is done laying all of her eggs.. Then them move the whole clutch over to your incubation box at the same time.. You don't need to make yourself crazy about it.. Remember, snakes have been laying eggs without "human" help for a very long time!

prepare yourself for the real possibility of losing a few eggs in the clutch, some may be your fault, some weren't meant to be. That way you can enjoy hatching the ones that make it. We all have had perfect clutches but more often than not, not every egg makes it. Sometimes you can play ping pong with them and they hatch, sometimes if you look at them funny they go bad. Just want you to know it's okay if you loose a couple throughout the whole process, don't worry, it gets easier as the snake matures!

colubrid eggs are tough. You can move them any way you want. Most stick together andyway so it it not possible, But as far as their toughness goes. I could jugle my eggs and they will still hatch, no problems.

As far as taking the eggs out of the laybox as she is laying. I do. Because some of my Florida kings in the past have eaten their eggs if I leave them. So I alway remove them as they come out. Then I go back and remove some more until she is done. Of course i do this gently and don't move the female.

Another thing I do is cut my eggs after the first one pips. I have had a much larger success rate with snake not drowning in their eggs. Some might say that is nature and meant to be if a snake cannot emerge. But i have lost plenty when I don't, and they are to valuable to lose. So that is your personal choice.

I remember carrying snake eggs in my hands while riding my bike as a kid. Think they got turned around and jostled a bit or what? Most, if not all, hatched for me.
That said, I doubt I'd juggle them....unless I was making an omelet. (I'm no W.C.Fields)
