The ball is rolling

Well I meet with the village board on Wed. and they are still trying to claim the rats are "wild" animals because there are rats in the wild... got to love the people that believe that the only pets in America should be the cat and dog. However, I have been sent to the safety committee to discuss this matter further; which is the way I would prefer to go because a snake bite is much less damaging then a dog bite.

So I have a little over a week to get all my stuff together to address this matter. I was wondering for those of you who have some great pictures of you kids playing with snakes please e-mail them to me. I need some examples I can show the board that a child can handle a 4 ft snake without problem.

How about contacting ball breeders that do childrens parties. I am sure you will be able to get pictures from them!

If their concern is the rats why bring up the snakes?

I have to bring up the snakes because under current ordinance all snakes are basically banned from the village. You can only own invasive which under state law you need to have a permit for and they cannot exceed 2 ft. Also when the officer came back and I pressed the rat issue he made it clear that now that they knew I had snakes those had to be removed asap. I had 3 days to get them out of town.

I figure as of now I need to talk to local business that this would affect (the local vet) and try to rally up some support in numbers.

We will see what happens but as of right now I have two battles that I need to fight and am trying to keep them apart, the board wants to put the rats and snakes together and call them banned but I think they should be looked apart from one another since they are different species.
