Garters at the beach!!!!!

celticvamp May 22, 2009 08:22 PM

Hello everyone. I'm not new to herps by any means. Not new to garters but hopefully you'll all get to know me I'm planning on going CRAZY!!!! over all the awesome garter morphs out there I just became aware of. The california redsided albinos OMG!!!. Anyhow my question is this..... Anyone here been to the Daytona show and know what the popularity of garter morphs are at the show or any of the popular garter morph breeders have any tables at the show. I go to alot of shows in the southeast primarily but haven't made the Daytona show yet. Planning on making it this year. I hope to see more garter morphs there than the others I attend.

Get use to seeing me I'm gonna hang around a while

You sound like a kid who just found a big candy store, lol. Welcome, good to see the enthusiasm, garters are very underappreciated indeed, but hope that will be changing.
I don't want to speak for someone else, but I'm pretty sure there have been and will be garters at Daytona. I hope to be able to be at some of the midwest shows this year on a smaller scale.

Me either? assumed you mistakenly mean to write albino red-sided Kansas strain? If there is an albino Cali red-sided I would love to see a pic of that!

You're right I meant Ssp. parietalis. As many times as I've browsed the pictures I should have known by now. Maybe that's the reason. I been mesmerized by the pictures for a year now. Blame in on Scott and the awesome pictures he takes. When I go to his site I can't take my eyes off the pictures.

I never saw a cali redside albino either.Probally would'nt be much different than the regular albino redside. There was a albino oregon red spot back in the day.I wonder what happened to that?
Anyway, Felzer should be at daytona.

haha i think he might mean the amelanistic parietalis that Scott recently had a litter of. Any case... good to have another garter enthusiast join the ranks!!! Bet you're not as obsessed with thamnophis as I am!!!!

celticvamp May 24, 2009 12:38 AM

I'm working on it. We'll just have to find a way to compare our obesessions. hahaha

asnakelovinbabe May 24, 2009 12:29 AM

Scott Felzer might be there, I can't remember if he said he'd be going this year or not. He was there last year though, I got to meet him in person and see many of his snakes!!! I felt like a school girl meeting hannah montana, no lies!! and if you wanna buy some awesome top notch garters, he's your man!!!

I won't be able to go to daytona this year, but next year it's on the to-do list!

celticvamp May 24, 2009 12:44 AM

Lets not talk too highly of his garters he may decide to raise his prices before I get to him haha. It's a shame you're not gonna make it to daytona. Even though I go to many of the southeastern shows I never been to Daytona yet. Planning on going this year. I seen in a past forum thread you picked up some garters at hamburg. I go to the hamburg show periodically maybe I'll run into ya there sometime. Thanks for the replies.

I will be a vendor at the show this year, hopefully there won't be a hurricane this year like there was last year.

Scott

asnakelovinbabe May 24, 2009 10:02 AM

What Scott meant to say, is that having a tropical storm sit over florida for 4 days dumping rain and causing severe flooding is the perfect time to go to daytona cause then, the only people in daytona, were there for the show. It was cool... I could say Hey! you goin to the show?! and not get stared at funny. I ould catch anoles and snakes in my hotel's parking lot and it was totally acceptable. We walked the beach, and besides me and my boyfriend, there was like, 3 people out there at any given time.

but in all seriousness, a hurricane = less people visiting the show which = bad for vendors

celticvamp May 24, 2009 12:32 PM

I blame your website for my new obsession. I was stricken by the albino redsided. If I can make it to Daytona I'll definately be seeing you there. If I can't make it to the show be expecting a call from me

asnakelovinbabe May 24, 2009 09:57 AM

Haha yes, I am the infamous garter grabber at the hamburg show!!! I scout the show out before the doors even open! In a year or two, when my future breeders are, well, breeding, I should be vending and there will finally be a garter dealer at hamburg!

celticvamp May 24, 2009 12:38 PM

Garter grabber!!!! Thats a very catchy title. Would you mind if I was the southeastern chaper of that title? Next time I come up for the hamburg show I'll let you know. I promise not to compete in grabbing. After all that's your terf, haha. If you or for that matter any of the rest of the garter enthusiests make to to any of the southeastern shows let me know.
