Feeding a Baby Ackie what size cricket

rottenweiler9 May 22, 2009 09:37 PM

I bought some small ones and they look awful small for these little guys. I also have a larger size cricket, but I think that is to big. Its like the pourage is to hot and to cold story here. SOmeone advised 3 week old crickets but Petsmart is not going to know that. Large or Small is what they say. I threw in about a couple dozen little ones tonight, and the ackies still seem to be hiding.

I have had baby ackies try to eat things many times the size of their head hahahaha. Just use common sense in selecting a size, they will take care of the rest.

No need to look into it too much, they are quite capable of taking care of business.

Goodluck,
Mike.

Thanks, I was not sure how they compared to Gecko. Guess I am still learning. I looked and saw some posts of people breeding crickets, and that had 3 week old crickets on it. Guess, I though it was smaller.

Thanks again.

I would think any monitor of any size or type could kill any cricket no problem. I use to feed the baby crickets to baby monitors now I just feed the large crickets its more practical. So did you get your temps going good? How are they doing?

They prefer larger crickets, with day olds I started them on 1/2 inch, in a few days almost adult, then within 5 days or so mine started eating pinky mice also.
