Radiated tortoise burrows

bivittatus May 23, 2009 01:49 PM

Out side of nesting females has anyone ever had an issue with radiateds burrowing. If so how large were the burrows. I always thought they didn't burrow but a friens of mine says that they do. And by don't burrow i mean don't typically burrow i realise almost all tortoises can on occasion dig at least a small borrow for what ever reason.

I have kept Radiated Tortoises continuously since the mid-1960's and NEVER has one dug more than a one-half inch deep resting pallet in the ground unless it was a female nesting. There is absolutely no danger of a Radiated digging its way out of an enclosure.
