Snow red-sided

boxienuts May 24, 2009 04:11 PM

I finally got around to sexing the 2 snow red-sideds a week ago that I produced this year, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I have a male and a female, wooohooo!!! Here is a pic I took last night, notice the ghost remains of a dorsal stripe and maybe a faint ghost remaining orange on the sides?

Awesome!!!! I can't wait to see what they look like as adults. I have never seen a picture of a redsided snow adult. I'm not even sure there is an adult. My final goal would be to have a snow male to breed with a couple double het females. I just love all three (anery, albino, and the snows). What LUCK!!! to have produced a male and female. Get to growing them babies and get some snows out there on the market!!!!!

You haven't seen a photo of an adult snow red-sided ever because it doesn't exsist yet, lol, trust me I am laughing with you not at you, because these two are the 1st and only 2 produced yet to my knowledge. Scott Felzer produced the double het parents that I aquired from him and then I raised them up and bred them to produce these two snows this spring.

I did say "I'm not even sure there is an adult. Well I am anxious to see how they turn out. Keep us updated. Beautiful things you have there...

that's soooo cool... look at the stripe!!! I see it!!! You know the ONLY thing that makes me sad about them is how similar they are to the Iowa snow plains... not that that's bad!!! I just would have a hard time telling unless it were in person... unless... Jeff, how different do these look in person when compared to Iowa Snow Plains?!

You know I have to agree Shannon they do look a lot like the Iowa snow in that they are remarkably both patternless and pigmentless......so far. And yes it is a bit dissapointing in some ways, but not surprising, and at the same time the positive side is that in the big world of all snakes, it is rare to have such a nice clean looking snow. It will be interesting to see how they look as adults, because as you know the Iowa snows tend to become more opaque as adults either taking on a more solid yellow white or a pinkish white depending on the individual. I have to wonder if there won't be just a tiny bit of orange bleeding out on the sides? Who knows, we shall see.
